We approach
ONE’s 37th season excited about the musical riches and fun that will come. I
hope that you will be joining us for every concert!
Many people
help in shaping the concert programming. I hear from subscribers, donors, our
musicians, and staff. This year brings special musical content, from revisits
to the greatness of Handel, to the welcome newness of Mark Kuss’s fine
creations.
This year’s Colonial Concert is the 31st entry in this flagship concert
tradition and will feature the great music of Bach, Handel, Haydn, and Mozart
with the usual surprises, confusion, collapses, and superb music making.
Historically-informed performance at its best!
Our annual BaroqueFest
features music of JS Bach, Vivaldi, and Telemann with ONE’s own seasoned
soloists. Individuals get to shine-we love it!
In an extraordinary
musical Soiree, we will revisit an important series of concerts from the
1920s where the leading composers of the day looked back at select masterpieces
to appreciate their musical inheritance. Through the use of deft arrangements,
a group of invitees sat down to enjoy the music of Mahler, Debussy, and others
of the late 19th century. When else will you hear the musicians of ONE take on
Mahler’s great Fourth Symphony or the seminal work of Impressionism, Debussy’s
Afternoon of a Faun?
We close the
season with a sumptuous and fascinating event featuring the newest work, “Distant.
Sounds.” of composer Mark Kuss, whose music has thrilled our audiences over
the past three seasons. His fourth piece for ONE is inspired by Chinese culture
and is sure to impress.
